2009 Annual Purdue Christmas Show

The 2009 Annual Purdue Christmas Show opened with Kris, portrayed by Joe Martin, visiting Jenny, portrayed by Maya Painter, on Christmas Eve to read her “The Night Before Christmas.”

Before the curtain came up, Kevin Norman, Randy Sarnowski, Jacob Ludwig and Phoenix Lyons from Glee Club’s Lighthouse sang “Christmas All Year Round.”

The Combined Voices of PMO take the stage!

The PMO students were all smiles at the end of the Act I opener.

After the opener, University Choir took the stage.

Next up were the Purdue Bells.

Meanwhile, Kris continued the story when out of the blue, Jenny shared she thought Santa should visit the tropics.

So, away to the tropics we went with the Purduettes!

With the orchestra on stage, the show used the orchestra pit throughout the show including to bring in the PMO Kids Choir.

Aaron Strand sang the solo on “All I Want for Christmas” with 10-n-10.

Taylor Ingram, Michael Keefer and Danielle Yu took the stage as Whoville characters.

Not far behind the Whoville characters was The Grinch himself, accompanied by Sarah Barrientez, Susan Wang and Joon Park on the Shaker Chimes.

Allison Rieth, Matthew Hanauer and Sara McNally entertained on “Chipmunk Song.”

The Purdue Varsity Glee Club with the “March of the Toys.”

“God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” closed out the Glee Club’s set.

Next up, 10-n-10 danced and sang to “That Holiday Feelin’.”

The Combined Voices of PMO closed out Act I with a bang!

As Jenny fell asleep near the end of the story, Kris pulled a familiar red coat from his bag, “and laying his finger aside of his nose,” he gave a nod to the audience.

PMO Director Bill Griffel invited PMO Alumni to join him on stage for the Holiday Carol Sing.

Act II, also known as the Cantata, featured the Combined Voices of PMO.

Aaron Cook sang a solo on “Ring the Bells.”

Carrie Syberg sang a solo on “Joy to the World.”

Kris and the Combined Voices of PMO closed the show with “Each Single Day/Silent Night.”

Backstage, PMO Director Bill Griffel grabbed a quick bite to eat between shows, along with the rest of the cast and crew.

Claudia White and Nancy Teall served up a feast of wonderful food along with help from our awesome PMO family and friends. Thanks for keeping us fed all weekend. We love you!

Meanwhile, some guys smiled for the camera before the final show.

After the final performance, Purdue University President France A. Córdova thanked the students for all their hard work. She shared that she was most impressed!

After the visit from President Córdova, the seniors came down and led the students of PMO in “There Will Always Be a Song.”

Thanks to everyone who helped make the 2009 Annual Purdue Christmas Show such a success and congratulations to all of our PMO seniors! Don’t forget that to better serve the academic needs of our PMO students, the show will now be presented one weekend earlier. Mark your calendar for December 4 & 5, 2010.
