We knew that when Shannon become a Purduette that PMO would be her family away from home for the next four years. Little did we know that PMO would become our family for life!

To the members of the Purdue Varsity Glee Club and their parents:
Dropping our sons off at college their freshman year is different for a Glee Club parent. We are not simply letting go of our little boys to become independent young men. We are setting them off on a journey of a lifetime. Beginning with Glee Club Camp, they get haircuts, memorize names, hometowns and majors, and learn the finer techniques of the dining experience.......Just the start of an adventure that will change their lives forever.
They learn life’s lessons of setting priorities, time management, leadership, and how to be a gentleman. (The sure way to a woman’s heart is with flowers/jewelry..... carnations/lavaliers!) From daily rehearsals on the 3rd floor of PMO, to Christmas Shows on the stage of Elliott, across the miles to New York City and Carnegie Hall, and across the ocean to China and the United Kingdom, these young men stand proud of their University and their country as Ambassadors to the world. It’s a long way from Glee Club Camp to stages, gymnasiums, and cathedrals around the world, but the time and effort they put in to it will pay off ten times over!!
I speak as one of many mothers who never dreamed her son would travel the world by virtue of his beautiful voice and leadership skills. We are so proud of all the men in the PVGC.....Brothers in song forever. Enjoy the ride.

To the new parents of Purduettes and their daughters;
Now that our young ladies have been away for 3 or 4 weeks, and the schedules and agendas of school are starting to settle in, please allow me to perhaps settle your nerves a little.
As a young man many years ago and beginning to start a family, I never dreamed that I would have 50 daughters. Imagine that! 50 beautiful, talented, polite and courteous daughters that I am so very proud of!
You see, new parents, that when you send your daughters to the care and keeping of the Purduettes, not only has she gained the trust and care of 50 new sisters, but she has just gained 50 new sets of parents.
While she’s off singing and entertaining hundreds upon thousands of receptive audience members, rest assured that whenever and wherever she sees a Purduette Parent proudly wearing that name badge, your daughter KNOWS that she can go to that Parent with all the trust and love that she gives to you. Whether that young woman needs some advice, an emergency run to the store for a forgotten item, or maybe even a hug to relieve the stress of a bad day, rest assured that somewhere, somehow, a Purduette Parent will be there for one of their 50 daughters.
Purduette Parents have a strange way of showing up at shows and events that no one ever thought a Parent would attend. The gleam in their eyes and the sparkle in their smiles will reward you many times over that the young women of the Purduettes are thrilled to see you and that name badge.
So you see, new parents and Purduettes, there’s a whole lot less that you need to fret over. Just like in the song from the musical CAROUSEL; “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” And parents, you now have 50 new sets of friends that you can share you concerns, fears, successes and stories with!
In a nutshell, it’s all about FAMILY, and the care and keeping of each other. Yeah, I may have 50 daughters, but I only have to pay for 1 wedding! See the young women sing as often as you can, and know that they’re going to be taken care of!
