John A. Sautter

VP for Housing and Food Services
Mr. Sautter has recently begun his tenth year as the Vice President for Housing and Food Sevices. After coming to Purdue in 1971, he has never given up his commitment to Purdue University
As the VP of Housing and Food services, he is the administrator for a staff of 800 employees and a budget of about 86 million dollars. His divison includes those of University Residences, Purdue Memorial Union, the Hall of Music, and Boiler Television. Mr. Sautter also serves as the Co-Chair of the Campus Community Issues Committee, as well as being a member of the University Senate Student Affairs Committee, the Excellence 21 Steering Committee, the Hospitality and Tourism Management Strategic Alliance Council, and the Athletic Department NCAA Self-Study. He also is an advisor for many student organizations including Mortar Board, Occupational Outlook, Omicron Delta Kappa, and the Purdue Residnece Hall Council.
Outside of Purdue, Mr. Sautter contributes significantly to the Greater Lafayette area serving on the Greater Lafayette United Way Board of Directors and as a board member of the Legal Aid Corporation of Tippecanoe County. He is also the President of the Greater Lafayette Volunteer Bureau, the West Lafayette High School Athletic Booster Club, and the West Lafayette School Corporation Parent's Council. On top of that, he is the Vice President for the West Lafayette Little League. Mr Sautter has also written many publications involving the administration of college residence halls.
Mr. Sautter's education includes a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Education and a Master's Degree in College Student Personnel-Higher Education Administration, both from Southern Illinois University. Mr. Sautter is also a veteren of the United States Army, where he served as a Military Policeman and earned the Army Commendation Medal. He now enjoys golf, running, and photography, as well as his family, which includes his wife, Dianne, two children, and two grandchildren.
